Today, when you discuss Digital Marketing with anyone most of the people suggest to go for Google Adwords or Social Media Adverts but doesn’t it sounds like you would be wasting Money?
Yes, being a Digital Consultant Im the last person to advise to burn out your hard earned money in Advertising unless you have big pockets and markets to cover. Most of us on Digital are looking to reach niche audience and that can only happen when you provide some unique experience or products.
So, let us taken an example here. (Please note this suggestion would be purely for Indian Markets/Viewers) – This is Amazon Vs Flipkart which is a hot topic to discuss upon. We know that Amazon is a Global player and Flipkart is Indian, being a global player Amazon has deep pockets and great experience because of which they are able to capitalize in Indian Markets by associating with great brands and not to forget by providing great shopping experience on their website and Mobile App.
I did a small dipstick in my circle (which included clients, friends and colleagues) and asked from which platform you shop and which is the platform where you enjoy the most while shopping. And the answer was clear, “AMAZON”. Then my next question was why? nobody knew and nobody had any straight answer to it. This is where the User Experience plays a vital role in your decision making. For reference, I have shared one of such example where Amazon was quick to understand the consumer and offer a great experience while checking out.
As you can see, this shows swipe to place your order. This is the most easiest and simplest way to checkout which involves minimal stages and gives a great experience. Apart from this, Amazon provides Fingerprint lock and access to place your orders and features like schedule your delivery, leave the packet to your neighbour and much more. Moreover, their quick delivery methods under Prime Membership are amazing which helps the user to make decisions quickly based on their need.
The way Amazon has been designed gives great UI and a user can reach out to the categories and content easily. Their search bar is amazing and helps you find almost anything that you need (but yes in this their product database has to be given credit).
Ill not say that Flipkart does not provide such features, but the difference is in between this only. The way both of the e-commerce giants have done their apps and website is what makes the difference.
In the Images below one can easily find out the difference which Im talking about. The left is Amazon which is neat, clean and gives great UI and on the right is Flipkart which looks cluttered with a lot of information.
At times using too much of brand identity/colors deteriorates the objective. Therefore the role of a User Experience and User Interference plays a vital role while designing any website or making a mobile app. I have experienced lot of people who are not ready to spend time and money on this and go directly to the marketing activities which ultimately leads to no returns or higher cost per conversion. One needs to understand that it becomes important to engage users and increase their time spent on the website to see any returns.
If someone work on the basic parameters of Digital Marketing, which starts from working on your platform then Im quite sure that you may end up getting business organically itself. As once your user would get used to your services and platform then there is no going back to any other platform.
